Peace action on Monday October 3d at Museumplein
On Monday October 3d at 18.00 hours, the local Amsterdam initiative ‘Stop de oorlog’ (Stop the War) will organize a protest on Museumplein (Museum Square) for the thirty first time in succession. We will voice our protest and our grief supported by poets, musicians and several speakers. If you want to contribute in any form, please send us an email.
Last Monday was our 30th action in front of the Russian Trade Representation at Museumplein 13-15. We plan to continue our actions every Monday as long as the war lasts.
Like many Amsterdammers we are very worried by Putins decision to invade Ukraine with his Russian army. This is a brutal act of aggression in the heart of Europe. We are filled with horror by the many dead and wounded, destroyed buildings, people fleeing and people in bomb shelters. This war must stop immediately!
Many people are also worried about Putins decision to put his nuclear weapons on alert. The fact that nuclear war suddenly appears within the realm of possibility ,frightens many people all over the world. It stresses the necessity to abolish nuclear weapons in the short term, starting with Europe.
Forty years ago, also in the Netherlands hundreds of thousands of people demonstrated against the threat of nuclear war. Now more than ever it is necessary to take to the streets again, against war and armament.
That is why:
Stop the war
